WOD 2012.12.22 - The Sower Revisited

Revisiting the Parable of the Sower

I'm in Luke now (audio Bible) and got the chance to hear Jesus tell the parable of the sower through Luke's account. Luke 8:14 stuck out to me, where Jesus explains about the seed that falls among thorns.

And as for what fell among thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature.

At times, it hits me I haven't matured much in some areas. Still the same, or settling for much less. Not willing to take responsibility nor leadership. Not wanting to commit nor bear burdens. One of the causes is a lack of focus. I'm "choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life". I get distracted too easily and do not remain. What's the cure? Jesus explains in the next verse.

As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.

Wow. I need to hold fast to the word of God and continue in patience. Lord, help me hold fast to your word and keep pressing on.

12 days of Christmas -- Rak Chazak
this was the same one as we did at JHo's. a friend came over to do the workout ... by himself. so I decided to join in. we did it individual-style (instead of partner) to get it over with faster. we still didn't finish it. the burpees were killer. I ended up finishing the round of 10's.

Russian twists were definitely the limiting factor; my butt was a bit sore / chafed from doing too many sit-ups yesterday, when we did "Annie" (50-40-30-20-10, double unders / sit-ups, 7:41). However, yesterday's workout was at 6 a.m.! First time in a while :)

rest / chill

15 s clapping push-ups

6 rounds
45 s shuffle / burpees

Oh man .... if I wasn't already sore .. I am now. Mat and I did this to have a sample of what a Game Changer workout feels like. I am certifiably sore.
