The Centurion

Today I started the New Testament on my audio Bible. I'm so excited~! Check out this passage from Matthew 8:5-13. Super cool!

When he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him, "Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly." And he said to him, "I will come and heal him." But the centurion replied, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes, and to another, 'Come,' and he comes, and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, "Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith. I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. And to the centurion Jesus said, "Go; let it be done for you as you have believed." And the servant was healed at that very moment.

The part in bold is right about where chills were sent down my spine. Here is Jesus Christ, offering to come and heal, when he could have just spoken a word, healed the servant, and went on his way. And even still incredible is the response of the centurion. I think the part that really got me was, "For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me." We learn to lead others by learning to be led.

Ultimately, the Christian leader is characterized by how he is led by Christ.

WOD

After hearing this exciting story, how could I not workout? :) Here's what went down today:

21-15-9
Burpee pull-ups
SDHP (72 lbs kb)

2 min rest

21-15-9
2 for 1 wall balls (wall ball shot + squat in between!)
burpee box jump (20")

1 min rest

25 burpee toes-to-bar
50 v-ups

time: 29:08

I need to pace myself or I'll gas out quickly. First time doing the 2 for 1 wall balls. Tricky at first ... then it's just tiring! I'm excited for my first CrossFit competition this Sunday! Come out to CFM @ 1 pm if you're free! It's a fundraiser for a friend (I have yet to meet) going to Uganda!
