That final mile

After work, I went to the gym to workout, following a similar programming for today's Workout of the Day from CrossFit Markham . It looked something like this: Stretching / SMR with lacrosse ball Lunges (10 reps each leg) - bodyweight - two 15# dumbbells (raised leg) - 45# barbell (raised leg) - 95# barbell Deadlift (225#) 5-5-5-5-5 10 mins of Cindy (1 round = 5 pull-ups, 10 push-ups, 15 squats) - lost count of rounds After a most exciting drive home, I changed into running gear to go for a light jog in preparation for this weekend's half marathon =) I'm so excited! The run started of as a light jog to CrossFit Markham. After hanging out there for a bit and picking up an awesome PaleoKit , I decided to keep running. My 2-3k jog turned out into a 10k jog. Having not run in a while, I started to feel a bit sore and slightly tired. As I was running the final mile, I suddenly got a boost of energy (or an incentive to run faster). First of all, if you have not heard of Fitocracy , join! It's like Facebook for fitness! Anyways, within Fitocracy there are these achievements you get called "Quests". You earn them when you reach certain milestones. I've reached a couple, and will list the quests I will try to reach by the end of this month :) Quests (Goals) No Stranger to the Rack : Backsquat = 277 lbs (1.5x bodyweight) - Most currently squatted is 250 lbs I lift things up and put them down : Deadlift = 333 lbs (1.8x bodyweight) - Uh ... current deadlift is around 275 lbs Push It! (Barbell) : Bench press = 167 lbs (0.9x bodyweight) - I'll just go do this .. I Prefer Being Off the Ground : Pull-ups: 15 reps in one set - If I'm fresh, I can probably do around 10 Hands Up High (Barbell) : Shoulder Press = 102 lbs (0.55x bodyweight) - I'll also just go get this one ... I Seem to Be Lost : Run 20 miles (32.2 km) in a lifetime - Okay, time to start running again Squat Clean P

One of my dreams is to open a 4-D gym. I've been throwing around ideas with some friends. I'm still not sure what it will look like yet, but this box is pretty cool!
